Street Department
The Street Department is a division of the City of Marshall Public Works
Department. The Street Department is responsible for approximately 180-190 miles of streets
and focuses on maintaining and/or repairing the streets, ROW's (right-of-way), and drainage system
of the City, as well as responding to citizen repair requests in a timely manner.
Additionally, the Street Department also installs culverts and sprays for mosquitoes within the
City limits of Marshall.
The Street Department utilizes 2 patch trucks for daily use in various areas of
town for routine street maintenance and to process citizen requests for repairs and pothole
patching. The Street Department spreads sand across bridges and areas prone to freezing in
winter months, when needed, and is available for emergency call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week.
The Street Department routinely checks and cleans all drains and traps throughout
town on a regular basis and even more frequently during rainy periods; cuts ROW's daily, working in
a circular pattern around the City as well as incorporating any citizen requests into the schedule
for routine maintenance; maintains blind corners per citizen and inter-departmental requests; cuts
and removes dead trees on City ROW; will tie-in the first 2' (two feet) of a resident's driveway
(from the street) as soon as the driveway is finished; and begins it's mosquito control
program in early Spring by utilizing 2 fogging machines to disperse larvacide within the
City.
